🌸 Significance of Vasantha Navaratri
From Chaitra Shuddha Padyami, that is Ugadi, the new year begins for us. At the same time, the spring season (Vasantha Ritu), the first among the seasons, also begins. This season holds great significance.
After shedding its leaves in the winter and losing its beauty, nature once again blossoms with fresh sprouts and colorful flowers during spring, spreading fragrance and beauty everywhere. With nectar-filled blossoms and pleasant surroundings, nature offers delightful abundance to the Supreme. Therefore, in the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says:
“Ritunam Kusumakarah” – Among the seasons, I am the spring.
It is also during this Vasantha Ritu that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Sri Rama. Hence, from Ugadi, the first festival of the year, until Sri Rama Navami, devotees joyfully celebrate these days as Vasantha Navaratri.
The word “Nava” has two meanings: nine and new. It symbolizes that the sorrowful nights filled with difficulties and demonic troubles have ended, giving way to joyful and auspicious nights.
In the worship of the Divine, there are nine forms of devotion (Navavidha Bhakti):
Shravanam – Kirtanam – Smaranam – Padasevanam
Archanam – Vandanam – Dasyam – Sakhyam – Atma Nivedanam
Through any one of these paths of devotion, devotees attain the presence and grace of the Divine. Therefore, our sages established Navaratri as nine sacred days of devotion and worship.

🌸 వసంత నవరాత్రులు విశిష్టత :
చైత్ర శుద్ధ పాడ్యమి నుంచి…అంటే ‘ఉగాది’ నుంచి మనకు నూతన సంవత్సరం ప్రారంభమవుతుంది. అలాగే ఋతువులలో తొలి ఋతువైన వసంతఋతువు మొదలవుతుంది. ఈ వసంతఋతువుకు ఎంతో ప్రముఖ్యత ఉంది. శిశిరంలో ఆకులు రాల్చి సర్వస్వం కోల్పోయిన ప్రకృతికాంత నవ పల్లవాలతో చిగిర్చి కొత్తగా పూల సోయగాలతో కనువిందులు చేస్తూ సుగంధాల సేవలతో ప్రకృతి పురుషునకు మకరందాల విందులు అందించే ఈ వసంతఋతువు పరమాత్మకూ ఇష్టమైనది. అందుకే గీతలో “ఋతూనాం కుసుమాకరః” అని శ్రీకృష్ణుడు చెప్పారు.
ఈ వసంత ఋతువులోనే దేవదేవుడైన శ్రీమహావిష్ణువు శ్రీరామునిగా అవతరించాడు. అందుకే సంవత్సరంలో తొలి పండుగ అయిన ఉగాది నుంచి శ్రీరామనవమి వరకు ‘వసంత నవరాత్రులు’గా భక్తులు ఆనందంగా జరుపుకుంటారు.
‘నవ’ అనే పదానికి ‘తొమ్మిది’ మరియు ‘కొత్త’ అనే రెండు అర్థాలు ఉన్నాయి. రాక్షస బాధలతో గడిచిన శోకమయమైన రాత్రులు తొలగి ఆనందమయ నవరాత్రులు వచ్చాయని భావం.
భగవంతుని ఆరాధనలో తొమ్మిది రకాల భక్తి మార్గాలు ఉన్నాయి.
శ్రవణం – కీర్తనం – స్మరణం – పాదసేవనం
అర్చనం – వందనం – దాస్యం – సఖ్యం – ఆత్మనివేదనం
ఈ నవవిధ భక్తి మార్గాలలో ఏదో ఒక మార్గం ద్వారా భక్తులు పరమాత్మ సన్నిధిని పొందారు. అందుకే తొమ్మిది రోజులు భక్తి మార్గాలతో భగవంతుని ఆరాధించే విధంగా నవరాత్రులను మన ఋషులు ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.
